1950's Hairstyles & Haircuts

The 1950s are remembered frequently with a sense of nostalgia and fondness. 1950s hairstyles adage some extra detailing and elaborate styling in the later period. Simply basic and there is nil to it, just hair pulled back into a simple, casual ponytail. In the late 50s women's styles changed considerably, from basic pin up curls and ponytails to crazy big backcombing bouffant, beehives, and the French pleat. The 1950s saw a lot of various changes, launches, fashion changes and level controversies as well. This was the time when the wars had nearly ended and there were some interesting changes in the fashion scenario.

Classic 1950s Poodle Haircut

This was considered a wonderfully feminine touch and women would frequently splurge on the salon treatment that was necessary for this glance. It was considered something of a lenience , but on the right face, it was an extremely flattering and stylish look. The poodle cut was one such that gained fame. This framed the face and gave it a feminine touch. Women loved to lavish on receiving this done from the beauty salon. This is something that has remained unchanged over time. Women also wore their little hair and loved to flaunt it as well.

The 1950 Bouffant Hairstyle

The bouffant was another glance that women during the fifties would work to get. Hairspray were frequently used to get the right, teased-up and flowing glance, and these could be helped with the right short and layered cut. The 1950's hairstyles also adage the rise of two styles which you may still see on any modern street. The ponytail was quite common for young girls and elastic was used to bind the hair up high, generally just a few inches behind the crown.
